Fredonia Rotary Club selects Students of the Month
Fredonia Rotary Club has selected Students of the Month for April. They are Brittany Campaign and Keely Geise of Fredonia High School.
Brittany Campaign is the daughter of Kimberely Leach and Brandon Leach. She has three sisters, Cathy who is a United States Airman, Amber who is currently at boot camp training to be a United States Sailor and lastly Christin who is taking classes at SUNY Fredonia. Campaign is a senior at Fredonia high school.
Campaign participates in the 3-1-3 program at SUNY Fredonia and is in the top twenty percent of her graduating class. She has taken AP U.S. history and is taking AP statistics. She is on the road to graduate in June with an Advanced Regents Diploma.
Campaign was a member of the cross country team from 7th to 11th grade and was fortunate enough to be a part of the team that made it to states two years in a row as well as winning sectionals and counties three years in a row. She has also been a member of the track team since seventh grade and has participated in basketball cheerleading since her freshman year.
Campaign was a part of Key Club her junior year. This was a great experience for her. From decorating Christmas cookies with the elderly to collecting donations for the Salvation Army, she enjoyed offering her time to help others. She is also currently a member of the Student Council.
Outside of high school, college classes, and practice, Campaign is an employee at McDonald’s as well as Harvest View Greenhouses. When she can find spare time, she prefers to be outdoors doing various things such as camping, hiking or just enjoying time with friends.
Once Campaign graduates, she will be leaving for Navy training to be a Master at Arms and hopes to travel all that she can.
Keely Geise is the daughter of Mark and Kathleen Geise. She is the youngest of three children, and both of her siblings are Fredonia High School graduates.
Geise maintains an 89.18 GPA and participates in the 3-1-3 program through SUNY Fredonia. She has received the Principal’s Award for academics every year of high school and is taking an AP literature class this year. She will graduate with a Regents Diploma.
Geise played a variety of sports in middle school, including basketball, cross country and softball. In high school, she participated in cross country, track, basketball and managing volleyball, though she decided not to pursue any one sport. Geise’s real passion is singing and she has been a member of the cast of the Fredonia High School musicals every year since she was a freshman, landing the lead role of Muzzy Van Hossmere in last month’s “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” She is a member of the Madrigals Singers at Fredonia and has been invited to All-County for chorus for several years.
Geise was a member of Student Council her freshman and sophomore years as a class representative, and returned her senior year as the elected Student Council president. She has participated in Key Club volunteer programs, won two awards for articles written in the school newspaper “The Spectator,” and lent a hand for the school yearbooks her junior and senior years.
In her spare time, Geise holds a job as a carryout specialist/server at Bob Evans in Dunkirk. When she has free time, she enjoys reading, writing, singing, playing the piano, camping and spending time outside.
Geise plans to attend Kent State University in the fall to study English, but she eventually wants to participate in the Peace Corps and to travel as much as she can.
