Area proves it remembers
On a near picture-perfect day, thousands of area residents paid tribute to those who served and sacrificed for our freedoms.
In Cassadaga, Boy Scouts recently posted flags on veterans graves in the village and in Sinclairville. In Forestville, a large parade included celebrity anthem singer for the Buffalo Sabres Doug Allen.
And in Dunkirk, streets were lined for a parade that followed services. Andrew Dziduch was the grand marshal for the city parade while guest speakers U.S. Coast Guard Lt. Christoper Wilson, Vietnam veteran John Fedyszyn and U.S. Marine Master Sgt. Brian Schneider spoke about what Memorial Day meant to them.
World War II veteran Charles St. George also spoke of his years of service as guest principal speaker.
Our thanks to all who took part in services, ceremonies and parades. A big thanks as well to those who attended and took time to remember.
