Local author writes children’s book

GOWANDA – In this rural community, many have observed the three small deer which appear to be residing in the lush green meadows and pine tree grove in the corner of what was once the site of Tri-County Hospital in Gowanda. The appearances of these shy but curious animals have inspired this local author to write a story for his six grandchildren.

“The Deer and the Pine Trees” was written by Dr. Robert L. Heichberger, a columnist for the OBSERVER and a resident of Gowanda. This recently-released children’s book was published by AuthorHouse Publishers.

Independent reviewers have stated: “The reader cannot help but be greatly moved by this engaging, captivating, and warmly appealing story. It will be a story the reader will fondly remember for a long time to come.”

The book was illustrated by Erin A. Pattridge, a senior at SUNY Fredonia.
