LERHSNY Hires Leader of Nursing Services

Officials at TLC Health Network, an affiliate of Lake Erie Regional Health System of New York (LERHSNY), announced the appointment of Tracy Couse, RN, MSN, as director of nursing services effective April 29. In this new role, Couse will have responsibility for hospital-based nursing services at Lake Shore Health Care Center, including oversight of inpatient units, the emergency department, and surgical services. UPMC Hamot, an affiliate of LERHSNY, will support and will work closely with Couse.

According to Linda Summers, MBA, FACHE, chief operating officer of the TLC Health Network, LERHSNY is pleased with the selection of Couse.

“We are excited to add someone with Tracy’s level of professional skills and experience to our team,” Summers said.

Couse has 17 years of health care experience and her responsibilities have included leadership, operations, quality assessment, strategic planning, and implementation. She recently served as director of emergency service for regional hospitals at UPMC Hamot and provided operational support for the emergency departments at Kane Community Hospital, Warren General Hospital and WCA Hospital in Jamestown. She also has served as both nursing director of emergency services and as nursing director of critical care at Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City, N.C.

Couse received an associate degree in nursing and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Villa Maria College of Health Sciences at Gannon University, Erie, Pa. She obtained a master’s degree in nursing/master of business administration-health care management from the University of Phoenix.

Couse is an advanced cardiac life support provider and instructor and her professional certifications include advance trauma nurse, trauma, and basic cardiac life support.

Couse is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, the honor society of nursing – Sigma Theta Tau International, and is past president of the local chapter of the Presque Isle Chapter of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses in Erie, Pa. She was a recipient of the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association Rising Star Leadership Award and the Hamot Medical Center Ambassador Award.
