BTA selects outstanding students
BROCTON – The Brocton Teachers’ Association announces the Students of the Month for April.
The middle school student of the month is seventh-grader Corey Haertel, son of Wanda Schultz and Robert Haertel of Fredonia. Corey is the middle school editor for the school yearbook and is a merit roll student. He is active member of Boy Scout Troop 267 from Fredonia and volunteers at Elderwood at Lakewood in Hamburg. He enjoys photography and camping. Corey would like to pursue a job involving technology.
The high school student of the month is senior Katherine Kayde Putcher, daughter of Julie and Glenn Putcher of Pomfret. Kayde is very active in school extracurriculars. She plays in the band, pep band, varsity volleyball, varsity softball and tennis. In addition, she is the Class of 2013 president, 2012 Girls State representative, member of the National Honor Society and a high honor roll student. Outside of school, she plays Babe Ruth softball, coaches a T-ball team, umpires for softball, supporter of the Relay for Life and is a member of St. Joe’s Catholic Church. Kayde was the recipient for the BCS Triple C award and a Rotary Student of the month. Her future plans include attending Canisius College to major in orthodontics and minoring in interior design.
