Changes in administration were adopted at a recent Dunkirk Board of Education meeting.

The board approved David Boyda to become the new School Five building administrator after Roxanne Michalak’s retirement. Boyda previously served as the middle school principal.

The board also promoted middle school assistant principal Rocco Vallone to the middle school building administrator position vacated by Boyda.

Kisun Peters was appointed to fill the vacancy left by Vallone.

The board also approved the purchase of playground equipment for schools four, five and seven for $188,427.80 from Miracle Recreation Equipment Company. The playground equipment will be identical to that at School Three, except for some space modifications at the School Four playground.

Superintendent Gary Cerne said the playground equipment will be installed this summer as part of Phase III.

Business Administrator William Thiel said the district would realize a cost savings because the equipment is purchased on state bid, but also through maintenance costs because all the parts will be the same.

Cerne also reported an effort for the district to share boys and girls swimming with Fredonia, Silver Creek and Forestville in the future.

The board will meet next on June 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the large group instruction room in the administration building.
