Grace Pucciarelli and Cassie Essek each had a double to lead St. George while Katie Price and Cailin Holt added singles. Anna Buchanan played well behind the plate as Pucciarelli earned the win in the circle.

Mckenzie Gugino, Lilly Kasparek and Victoria McQuiggan stood out offensively for the Kosciuszko Club in defeat. Olivia Smith and Courtney Bailey played well in the field.

Hannah Cybart, Grace Pucciarelli, Caitlyn Cybart and Hannah Gullo combined to toss a no-hitter, struck out 15 and walked 3 for the Lady Monarchs. Kiara Boyd led the offensive attack with a home run while Caitlyn Cybart added three hits. Katie Price, Pucciarelli and Hannah Cybart knocked two hits each while Monica Pokoj recorded her first hit for Northern Chautauqua Catholic.

Northern Chautauqua Catholic 13, St. John Vianney 1

The Lady Monarchs wrapped up an undefeated year and a Southwestern Catholic Softball League regular season title in a big win over St. John Vianney.

Hannah Cybart struck out eight, walked one and allowed four hits in the circle for Northern Chautauqua Catholic. Hannah Cybart led the Lady Monarchs at the plate with three hits and a triple while Grace Pucciarelli provided two hits. Katie Price hit a triple and Caitlyn Cybart a double for the victors. Maren Robertson broke open a 1-1 game in the bottom of the third and started the really.

Next up for the Lady Monarchs are the playoffs, which begin today at Sunshine Park in West Seneca.

Dunkirk Little League Major Division

Lucky Lanes 12, Exempts 0

Patrick Muldowney and Jared Glowniak combined to throw a one-hitter and strike out 11 for Lucky Lanes. Muldowney added three hits and Felix Garcia knocked a par to lead the offensive effort.

Ethan Yannie recorded the Exempts’ only hit.


Second Annual Baseball/Softball Underclassmen Showcase

The second annual Baseball/Softball Underclassmen Showcase event will be held on the weekend of August 17-18 at the North Collins Sports Complex. This event is limited to players who were First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention Divisional or League All-Stars. This year’s format pits the ECIC All-Stars against the Monsignor Martin, Buffalo City and Private School All-Stars and the CCAC All-Stars against the Niagara Frontier League and Niagara Orleans All-Stars.

All players must be high school students with a scheduled graduation date of 2014 or later. Last year’s games included 32 of 39 participants who are planning on playing at the collegiate level next year.

Fredonia All Sports

Booster Club Awards Night

The Fredonia Central School All Sports Boosters Club will hold its annual awards night tonight in the High School auditorium.

Awards will be presented to recognize jayvee and varsity athletes for their performances during fall, winter and spring sports. Scholarships will be awarded as well, as all jayvee and varsity student athletes, and their parents, are encouraged to attend.

Joy Golf Tournament

Moved to Gowanda CC

The Russell J. Joy Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit TLC Health Network has switched locations and will be played at Gowanda Country Club, 2623 Brown Street, Collins on Wednesday, August 28. Registration is set for 11 a.m. and tee-off is set for noon.
