Second annual Sauce Off coming to Jamestown
JAMESTOWN – James-town Now and the James-town Renaissance Corpora-tion invite you to celebrate Jamestown’s best red sauces at the second annual Great Jamestown Sauce Off. The “best of the best” red sauces are simmering on stoves across the county in preparation for June 23 at the Winter Garden Plaza in Jamestown from 12 to 4 p.m.
The event will be a family affair where patrons can taste various recipes, enjoy a craft table, and listen to some local music.
Red sauces may either be meat or vegetarian and should be submitted to represent an individual, family or restaurant.
There will be three winners that day. The first-prize winners in the meat or vegetarian category will be determined by a panel of judges, including local food enthusiasts Peachy Sampson from Cooking with Peachy and Elaine, Chef Todd Singleton and Ed Dynus.
Judges will sample all entries and vote for their favorite.
The second prize will be a fan favorite award. Patrons of the event will cast their votes throughout the day for their favorite recipe. The first-prize winners will receive a cash prize to recognize his or her superior sauce and the fan favorite will receive a special award.
