Steel Plant Museum hosts Chicago author for free literary event

LACKAWANNA – Chicago-based author, Edward McClelland will visit the Lackawanna Public Library, 560 Ridge Road, on Saturday, starting at 1 p.m., where he will read excerpts from his latest book: “Nothin’ but Blue Skies” and answer audience questions.

This free literary event is being hosted by the Steel Plant Museum of Western New York, in conjunction with the LPL. The public is invited to attend this presentation and meet the author. Free parking is available in the library lot and, next door, at Memorial Field.

WNY residents will find the book interesting as it deals with the collapse of blue-collar industries in America’s heartland. Anyone formerly employed by or depending upon another’s pay check, earned in local steel plants, will readily understand the meaning of the book’s title.

Also notable is the book’s cover-photo showing windmills producing energy where steel was once the major employer.

In addition, McClelland is the author of: “Horseplayers, The Third Coast and Young Mr. Obama.” The latest book will be available for purchase and signing by the author.
