Brigham Road work starts today

The city of Dunkirk Public Works Department is advising motorists that Brigham Road from Lake Shore Drive West to the city line will have milling work done by Chautauqua County beginning today. There will be flagmen and motorists can expect delays.

Cattaraugus County DPW closing Perrysburg road

The Cattaraugus County DPW will close County Route 78, West Perrysburg Road, between Mackinaw and Planck roads in the town of Perrysburg starting Monday. The closure is needed for the replacement of two culverts and will be closed for about one week. A detour will be posted.

Kiwanis chicken barbecue Sunday

The Northern Chautau-qua Kiwanis Club will hold its annual chicken barbecue Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Dunkirk Memorial Post 62, 211 Central Ave.

Chicken comes with potato salad, tossed salad and coffee/juice. Desserts will be provided by the Fredonia Key Club. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children.

Collins Library Hot Dog Roast Saturday

The annual Collins Public Library Hot Dog Roast Fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the library, 2341 Main St., Collins. This year’s event will feature Mike Randall & Friends, “Dig Into Reading” program from 11 a.m. to noon, as well as a Friends of the Library Bake and Book Sales from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sahlen’s hot dogs will be sold for $1 and Italian sausage for $2; both meals include a bottle of spring water. The events are held rain or shine.

New book sale

A new drive up service will be offered at Prendergast Library’s book sale Friday and Saturday.

Customers may leave their bags full of purchases at the sale entrance, return with their cars, and have their vehicles loaded for them.

After checkout, customers will receive a card with a number on it, and a matching number will be placed on their materials so staff members and volunteers responsible for the book pickup service can match them up.

The sale is taking place for the first time at the Lillian Ney Renaissance Center, 119-121 W. Third St., Jamestown. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Volunteers needed

for cleanup in Brocton

The Chautauqua Home Rehabilitation & Improve-ment Corporation will hold a cleanup of Main Street in Brocton Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Volunteers are needed for this event, and anyone who comes out to help will be entered to win one of two $25 Home Depot gift cards or one $50 gift card. A 50/50 raffle will also be held at the event. Volunteers will receive free hot dogs and drinks.
