Refreshment trailer to be set up for lawn sales in Cassadaga June 15

The Cassadaga Valley Kiwanis Club will have its refreshment trailer set up during the village’s annual lawn sales June 15 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Maple Avenue near the former Cassadaga Greenhouse. The Kiwanis will serve hot dogs, pop and other refreshments. Profits from the effort benefit local service projects.

Traveler advisory

The New York State Department of Transporta-tion announced that U.S. Route 20 will have a lane shift in place between Goodrich and N.Y. Route 76 in the town of Ripley, Chautauqua County.

This lane shift is effective immediately and is expected to remain in place for 4-6 weeks while emergency repairs are made to a culvert. One travel lane in each direction will be maintained throughout the duration of the culvert repair.

Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.

Silver Creek School and CASAC to hold meeting Tuesday

Silver Creek Central School and Chautauqua Alcoholism & Substance Abuse Council will hold a meeting in the school auditorium Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on problems and issues facing youth in the SCCS district.

If concerned about our youth and wanting to make a difference in this community, you are invited to attend.

Dunkirk Fire Dept. monthly report

The Dunkirk Fire Department reports going on 173 runs in May. Of that number, 126 were EMS calls with 35 of those resulting in transports to Brooks Memorial Hospital.

There were 29 still alarms, 14 box alarms and four mutual aid calls answered by the department, according to figures from Fire Chief Keith Ahlstrom.

Crafters sought for ‘Fly-In’ event

The Dunkirk Rotary Club seeks crafters and vendors interested in being part of its annual Fly-In Breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon July 14 at the Dunkirk Airport. The club welcomes crafters who provide handmade crafts, fine art and gourmet food products.

A limited number of indoor spaces will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Crafter booth spaces are $25 for a single 10- by 10-foot space or you may purchase a double space for $40. Tables and chairs will be provided if requested.
