Twenty years ago – 1993

Samuel R. Miserendino, the senior partner in the law firm of Miserendino, Krull and Foley, P.C., has announced the opening of an office for the practice of law at 419 Central Ave. in Dunkirk as of June 1. A Silver Creek native, Miserendino founded the law firm which specializes in personal injury litigation back in 1958. He has been recognized as one of the best lawyers in America in personal injury litigation.

Thirty years ago – 1983

The Hanover Town Board has appointed Vincent Martonis of Silver Creek as a town historian. The board appointed Martonis on the basis of his application. He was one of two persons to apply for the position, which is not compensated. Martonis was the only applicant who is a town resident.

Forty years ago – 1973

Karen Lewandowski of Dunkirk was honored at a dinner at Rusch’s Restaurant for her recent appointment by the Jamestown Civic Ballet Co. as ballet mistress – a position comparable to Prima Ballerina in a larger troupe.

Fifty years ago – 1963

A Porsche owned by Herb Swan of Cleveland is expected to be the car to beat for the Grand Prix Gold Cup in the Seventh Annual Lake Erie Invitational Sports Car Races at the Dunkirk Airport this weekend.
