Silver Creek man with assault rifles charged
SILVER CREEK – Sun-day afternoon, the Chautau-qua County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man leaving his residence carrying two assault rifles, following an altercation with two other individuals.
Deputies quickly located the suspect and identified him as Matthew J. Glinski, 44, of Silver Creek.
Further investigation led the deputies to suspect Glinski had tried to dispose of several marijuana plants from his residence before deputies arrived. A search warrant was obtained, resulting in the reported seizure of several more marijuana plants from a grow operation along with a substantial amount of money.
Glinski had prior felony convictions so he was charged with two counts of third-degree possession of a weapon and two counts of second-degree harassment for the initial altercation.
Glinski was arraigned and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on $10,000 bail. More drug-related charges are pending processing of the marijuana.
The Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and the New York State Police assisted with the investigation.
