Pine Valley board takes care of regular business

SOUTH DAYTON – The recent meeting of the Pine Valley Board of Education took care of business. The board approved various positions and appointments and provided a brief building project update.

The board announced it will accept bids since phase one of the building project was approved. Bids will be opened on June 20 and accepted at the board meeting later that night. Janie Waag, board president, thanked the board for their hard work during the budget. She thanked all school residents for supporting the budget by voting to pass the budget.

The board also approved Barb Abbey, Amy Baldwin, Laurie Beaton, Rex Brown, Chris Buczek, Kayla Corsaro, Billy Fleming, Brittany Howard, Monica Kenney, Rick Kenney, Debra Walker and Jake Wilcox as lifeguards for the 2013-2014 school year. The board approved David Pihlblad as a special education teacher. Stacy Chase was approved as community service coordinator and fitness room manager. Mark Chase was approved as athletic director for 2013 through 2016.

The board also approved extra curricular advisers and class advisers. Amanda Miller, for Creating a Safe School, Liz Hesse for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, Isaac Habermehl for Future Farmers of American, Danielle Lincoln for Pine Valley Service Club and Ben Westlund for High School Science Club. Bill Lachner, Dawn Andrews and Penny Benson were approved as co-advisers for the Class of 2014 through 2019.
