Dunkirk’s Farmer and Artisan Market Grand Opening held

Dunkirk’s Farmer and Artisan Market held its Grand Opening recently at Dunkirk’s Memorial Park. The market is presented by D&F Travel and will run Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursdays from 3 to 7 p.m.

Attending the Grand Opening were Dunkirk Mayor A.J. Dolce, Councilman William Rivera, Dunkirk Community Chamber President Ellen Luczkowiak, Chamber staff Greg Krauza and Dave Kleparek, Market coordinator Molly Krauza and participating farmers and customers.

There will be farmers offering produce, honey, plants and flowers, meat and dairy products. As the season progresses artisans and vendors will fill the market as well. A complete schedule of entertainment and education is planned. A transportation shuttle will be available on scheduled Sunday mornings, thanks to a grant from the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation. The Dunkirk Community Chamber of Commerce is also a major sponsor of this event.

The Dunkirk Community Chamber, the Chautauqua County Chamber and the Community Chamber Development Corp. are pleased to be managing the market in cooperation with the City of Dunkirk. Supporting agri-business, small businesses and creating a business friendly environment throughout the County make this a natural to meet the Chamber’s mission.

The Market Grand Opening was appropriately held on Memorial Day weekend as the Chamber hopes to encourage increased activity from residents and market consumers who want to pay their respects to the many veterans who fought and died for our country. The monument park in the center of Memorial Park has been designed to allow for respectful observation and recognition of the many residents who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Dunkirk’s Farmer and Artisan Market hopes the increased flow of people to the market will lead to more people taking advantage of this wonderful resource.
