City chamber meets today

The Dunkirk Chamber of Commerce board of directors meets today at 4 p.m. in the Fredonia State incubator. Members and guests of the chamber are welcome to attend.

Hanover to flush hydrants starting Thursday night

The Hanover Water Department will begin flushing hydrants Thursday and Sunday nights for approximately two weeks beginning June 13.

Pancake breakfast Sunday morning

The Sunset Bay Fireman’s Auxiliary will hold an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast Sunday, from 9 a.m. to noon at the fire hall. The cost is $5 and also includes sausage, eggs and fruit.

Business After Hours Event Thursday

The Hanover Community Chamber of Commerce will hold a Business after Hours Event Thursday starting at 5 p.m. at Cabana Sam’s in Sunset Bay and sponsored by Cabana Sam’s.

The event will feature food, drink specials and games. Cost is $5 per person for members and guests. Live music follows at 7 p.m.

Doug Houck to appear on Senior Report

Senior Report with Reed Powers will have Doug Houck as the guest on Saturday’s television program. Houck will discuss gas and oil well hydraulic fracturing.

The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out. The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. for some communities. Reed Powers, host of Senior Report, has been producing the television program since 1995. The series highlights senior citizen club news for 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour-long program devoted to the featured guest. The guest is subject to change.

Senior Report is shown live on Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering the following communities: Brocton, Cas-sadaga, Chautauqua, Fredo-nia, Mayville, North Har-mony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Falconer, Forest-ville, Hanover, Irving, James-town, Lakewood and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19. The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville.

Chautauqua Season Preview to be televised

Chautauqua Season Preview 2013 will be televised on Access Channel 5. The 30-minute program will air beginning Saturday at 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. each day, running through June 21. It will air again from June 22 through June 28 at 1:30 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m.

Viewers will get a taste of some of the diversified programming to be offered at the Chautauqua Institution during the 2013 summer season. The program was produced by WNED in Buffalo.

Access Channel 5 is available to cable viewers in the Mayville, Westfield, Chau-tauqua, North Harmony, Sherman, Ripley and Portland area.

Gas prices fall

Average retail gasoline prices in Rochester have fallen 1.2 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.68/g Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 319 gas outlets in Rochester. This compares with the national average that has not moved in the last week to $3.64/g, according to gasoline price website

Including the change in gas prices in Rochester during the past week, prices Sunday were 1.2 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are unchanged versus a month ago. The national average has increased 6.9 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 7.8 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
