WMS selects Students of the Month

WESTFIELD – On a monthly basis, Westfield Middle School honors one student at each grade level as the Student of the Month. Teachers and staff had the opportunity to nominate one student who they believed met the following criteria: follows Westfield’s Rules of Respect for staff and peers; shows outstanding effort and improvement or shows achievement and consistent high scores on tests, quizzes and projects; is prepared daily to participate in all classes; serves as a positive role model for peers; and demonstrates a positive attitude and good citizenship.

Three students were selected for the month of April.

The sixth-grade recipient is Daryl Irwin. In school, Daryl enjoys his science class because he gets to learn about interesting topics like weather and space. In his spare time he enjoys collecting rocks and beach glass, reading, fishing with his dad, and helping his mom at the fish house. In the future, he hopes to do well in school, continue the family tradition of fishing, and keep the family business going.

Ania Nichols received this honor for the seventh grade. In school, she enjoys her science and computer classes because they both involve fun activities and projects. Ania enjoys reading in her spare time, especially mystery books. A goal she has for the future is to become a veterinarian or animal rescuer.

At the eighth-grade level, Simon Williams received this honor. In school, he enjoys his science class because of his teacher’s sense of humor. Outside of the classroom, Simon enjoys staying active with sports including football, basketball and track. In the future, he hopes to attend medical school and become an optometrist.
