Thirty years ago – 1983
The Fredonia Central School District has received a $75,000 purchase offer for the Eagle Street School from the Lake Erie Baptist Church of Fredonia. The church submitted the only sealed bid for the property, located at 101 Eagle St., during a public bid opening in the superintendent’s office. The site has been appraised at $225,000.
Forty years ago – 1973
Deborah Palmer, 16, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Palmer of Forestville, has been selected as the 1973 Girls State representative for the Forestville American Legion Auxiliary Unit 953.

Members of the “Committee for Nonviolent Action” are expected in Fredonia sometime today from Sinclairville. They are a branch of the Quebec-Washington-Quantanamo Walk for Peace group, which is marching from Cleveland to Rome.
