Chicken barbecue at the Silver Creek VFW on June 23
The Silver Creek VFW and Hanover American Legion will hold a chicken barbecue Sunday at the Samuel Cimino Post 6472, 13 Main St. The cost is $8 and will be sold from 1 to 5 p.m. or sold out.
Amateur Radio Club plans open house
The Northern Chautauqua Amateur Radio Club will have an Open House Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dunkirk Salvation Army, 704 Central Ave.
The community is invited to see the club’s new emergency communications station, funded by a grant from the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation. Amateur radio (also called “ham radio”) is the use of radio frequencies for private recreation, non-commercial exchange of messages, experimentation, self-training and emergency communication.

Celebration of FCS baseball champs today
Fredonia Village Mayor Stephen Keefe along with the Fredonia Chamber of Commerce and Fredonia Central School will hold a ceremony to celebrate the Fredonia High School Baseball Team’s win at state championships today at 5 p.m. on the steps of the village hall. Mayor Keefe will make a proclamation and Dave Rowley will be the master of ceremonies. Everyone is welcome to come.
Town of Villenova Office Building phone lines out of order
Please be advised the phone lines in the Town of Villenova Office Building have been out of order since last Tuesday.

Brigham Road paving today in Dunkirk
The city of Dunkirk Public Works Department advises motorists that Brig-ham Road from Lake Shore Drive to the city line will be paved beginning today.
There will be flagmen and motorists can expect delays.
Gas price falls
Average retail gasoline prices in Rochester have fallen 1 cent per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.68/g Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 319 gas outlets in Rochester. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.1 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.61/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Including the change in gas prices in Rochester during the past week, prices Sunday were 4.3 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are unchanged versus a month ago.
