Brocton resident to celebrate 100th birthday with an open house
BROCTON – On Saturday, June 22 from 2-4 p.m. there will be an Open House at Fellowship Church, 148 Main St. in Brocton. This event will honor and celebrate the 100th birthday of Wilma Zimmerman.
Zimmerman is a charter member and regular attendee of Fellowship Church with her son Joe. She is still very active, and unless the weather is bad, she faithfully arrives for Sunday worship.
She was born in West Seneca and came to the Brocton area in the 1950s. Although she worked many jobs over the years, she was the school secretary from 1961 to 1983. She retired at age 70, and it took two people to replace her.
Following her retirement, she took over village taxes for two years and managed the money to the penny.
Zimmerman is active in many areas of her life. She loves to shop and buy new makeup, and keeps up with fashion. She always looks very good. She enjoys knitting, making quilts, watching nature and doing beadwork.
Her daughter Jeanne says her mother is an inspiration to many, and enjoys being needed by her loved ones. She always looks to tomorrow, and the things she needs to do. Twelve years ago she visited Germany and Switzerland.
Zimmerman had several siblings who lived into their 80s and 90s, and one brother died three weeks before his 102nd birthday.
Come to this event and help honor this remarkable woman’s life.
