Edward Krystofik, 77, of Dunkirk died Tuesday morning (June 18, 2013) at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 26, 1935 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Frank and Maryanna Krystofik.
A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Mr. Krystofik served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1956. He had been employed as a steel worker at Roblin Steel and AL Tech Specialty Steel Corp., both in Dunkirk.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, where he was an usher, Dunkirk Moose Lodge 89, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 59 and a lifetime member of the Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club.
An avid fisherman, Ed loved nature, especially the water. Above all, he enjoyed the time spent with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen “Pat” (Dolcie) Krystofik, whom he married Aug. 20, 1965; two sons, Michael (Carol) Gugino of Rochester and Steven (Michele) Gugino of Florida; two daughters, Jody Krystofik of Jamestown and Jennifer (Steve) Lilly of Fredonia; seven grandchildren, Michael and Angelo Gugino, Joseph and Abigail Gugino, and Jake, Emma and Nicholas Lilly; one great granddaughter, Raegen Gugino; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Fred and Steve Krystofik; and two sisters, Virginia Pupenbroke and Sophie Kapuscinski.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 o’clock in Holy Trinity Church. Calling hours will be held Friday from 6-9 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, P.O.
