Annual Senior Sweep today

The 12th Annual Senior Sweep Program will be held today. Dunkirk High School seniors will meet at City Hall at 8:45 a.m. before moving on to city areas needing cleaning. Partici-pants will return to City Hall for refreshments

Fredonia Summer Recreation Registration

Registration for all Fredonia-Pomfret Recrea-tion Department summer activities will be conducted on the second floor of Village Hall Friday from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Residents of Fredonia and Pomfret may register.

Late registration will be accepted at program sites or at the Recreation Depart-ment, second floor, Village Hall.

Residents wishing more information on department programs, or to offer suggestions, are asked to contact the Parks and Recrea-tion Department at Village Hall from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. at 679-2311. Information is also available on the village website and the Fredonia-Pomfret Recreation Depart-ment’s Facebook Page.

Vacation Bible School at Stockton Community Church

The Stockton Commun-ity Church at 4554 W. Railroad Ave. will host “Jesus to the Rescue” Vacation Bible school from June 24-28 from 9 a.m. to noon. This is open to children from age 4 to those who have completed sixth grade. There will be Bible stories, songs, crafts, games and refreshments. Various rescue personnel from the community will bring their equipment to demonstrate their services. Any offerings made that week will go toward Aly Houser’s mission trip to Africa. All children must be registered by an adult the first day of Bible school. Registration will be from 8:30 to 9 a.m. on June 24.

DLDC meeting canceled

The June 26 meeting of the Dunkirk Local Develop-ment Corporation has been canceled due to a lack of agenda items.

The next meeting is scheduled July 31 at 11 a.m. in City Hall.

Fredonia to collect yard waste starting Monday

The village of Fredonia will be picking up limbs and yard waste beginning Monday. Collection will begin at 7 a.m. and continue until every village street has been collected once. Bags and brush are collected separately by different crews. All items for collection must be at the curb no later than 7 a.m. Monday morning. In no case will there be repeat collection of areas completed.

All yard waste must be bagged and all limbs and brush must be tied with twine. Limbs and brush must be cut no longer than four feet in length with bundles being no larger than 18 inches in diameter. Bundles and bags are limited to 65 pounds in weight. There is no collection of loose material.

Village residents may bring bagged yard waste and bundled brush to the designated area at the DPW yard, 176 Eagle St., at any time. The dropoff area will be available until further notice.

The cooperation of residents is greatly appreciated.

The next scheduled pick-up will start on July 22.

DHS graduation plans

Dunkirk Senior High School’s 155th commencement exercises will be held in King Concert hall on the SUNY Fredonia campus on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. A ticket will be required for admission.

Students will participate in the traditional courtyard procession beginning at Dunkirk High School at 9:15 a.m. Before boarding buses for transportation to the Fredonia campus, students will participate in the traditional bell ringing ceremony.
