Forestville names valedictorian and salutatorian
FORESTVILLE – Emily Markham, Forestville’s valedictorian for the graduating class of 2013, is the daughter of Jim and Carol Markham. Markham has made becoming valedictorian of Forestville’s Class of 2013 her goal since she entered high school. She is involved in various student activities, including Key Club, Concert Band, Marching Band and the National Honor Society. She enjoys helping others and serving her community in any way that she can. Markham is a member of the Lady Hornets varsity softball team as well as an active member of Chautauqua County 4-H. She enjoys showing her horse, Will, and participating in the Chautauqua County Fair and New York State Fair. She spends her spare time reading, painting, horseback riding, eating, and being with her friends and family. She can’t wait to see what opportunities the future will hold. Markham will attend Ohio State University in the fall to major in psychology with a minor in forensic science. One of her favorite quotes describes her future plans: “Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything but ordinary.”
Kendra Catalano, Forestville’s salutatorian, is the daughter of Mark and Lynette Catalano. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Catalano has also been involved in Model UN for three years. She was a participant in the JBC Leadership Launch with Senator Cathy Young. Catalano is currently the secretary of both Key Club and Chorus Council. She is also the vice president of Student Council. She has been a member of the varsity track team for six years and she is currently the co-captain of the girls’ team. Catalano has been a volunteer for the Western New York DDSO since the ninth grade. Catalano will be attending Ohio Northern University in the fall as a pharmacy major.
