Native Pride Vendor Day to be held June 29

Native Pride Vendor Day will be held Saturday, June 29 at Native Pride, 11359 Southwestern Blvd., Irving on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation. Native artists will be selling artwork, beadwork, pottery, paintings and carvings. Starting at 10 a.m., there will be a traditional opening, “The words that come before all else.” At noon, Perry Ground, Onondaga story teller and at 4 p.m. a chance to meet Alyssa Schmidt of the Seneca Beaver Clan, the current New York State Fair Indian Village Princess. A free children’s craft will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Free set-up for Native vendors but they must provide own tent, tables and seating. For more information, contact Jan at 934-5130. Amateur Radio Club plans open house

The Northern Chautauqua Amateur Radio Club will have an Open House Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dunkirk Salvation Army, 704 Central Ave. The community is invited to see the club’s new emergency communications station, funded by a grant from the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation. Amateur radio (also called “ham radio”) is the use of radio frequencies for private recreation, non-commercial exchange of messages, experimentation, self-training and emergency communication. Chicken barbecue at the Silver Creek VFW June 23

The Silver Creek VFW and Hanover American Legion will hold a chicken barbecue Sunday at the Samuel Cimino Post 6472, 13 Main St. The cost is $8 and will be sold from 1 to 5 p.m. or sold out.
