DHS valedictorian, salutatorian announced
Dunkirk High School is proud to announce this year’s valedictorian, Lucas Julian and salutatorian, Rafael Muller, Jr. Lucas has earned an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors, along with both a Science and Math Endorsement. Rafael has earned an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors, with a Science Endorsement.
Julian’s academic record is exemplary. He has taken honors and AP classes throughout his high school tenure, earning him college credits. He was awarded the Rensselaer Medal, which recognized his scholastic achievement in the areas of math and science. He was also honored as the JCC College Connections Student of the Year, Student of the Month, and named to the Business First All-Academic Team.
Julian is a three sport athlete, having participated in varsity tennis, soccer, and wrestling. He is a member of National Honor Society where he has completed many community service projects, including CYO Christmas Baskets, volunteering at the Friendly Kitchen, Thanksgiving Food Drive, and tutoring.
Julian will be attending SUNY Buffalo in the fall where he will pursue an engineering degree. He is the son of Philip and Annette Julian.
Muller is a four-year member of the DHS JROTC Program where he participated in both the Drill Team and Color Guard. He was promoted to Executive Officer-2nd in Command of Cadets during the 2012/13 school year. One of his most outstanding accomplishments is the completion of over 400 hours of community service through the JROTC program. Muller was recognized by the American Legion with a Scholastic Excellence Award.
Muller was the 2012 Boys’ State of New York Delegate, received the Jamestown Optimist Club Junior Citizen Award, DHS Student of the Month, recipient of the George Eastman Leaders Award, and a PR/HYLI Delegate for 2012 and 2013. He has also been involved in Boy Scouts from 2008-2012.
Muller will be attending SUNY Buffalo in the fall where he will pursue an engineering degree. He is the son of Rafael and Maridel Muller.
