Mayville art studio to host grand opening weekend

Special to the OBSERVER

MAYVILLE – Living Glass And Living Art Studio has opened in Mayville to awaken the artist in all of us.

The art studio is owned by artists Ange Cash Bentivegna and Denise Cash Williams, who are cousins. Bentivegna does paintings that are inspired by movement and energy.

“My art reflects the light, spirit, movement and beauty of life,” she said. “My style has its own unique identity. My vision is to create an innovative paradigm shift in art. My goal is to transform my subject matter with light, color, texture and line, and create a new type of art. Art that inspires and brings a sense of inspiration and wonderment.”

Williams combines contemporary art with traditional stained-glass concepts.

“Nature has always been the subject of my pieces,” she said. “Whether symbolized or implied, natural components are always present. I believe nature provides the most intriguing design elements through form, structure and color. I try to interpret what I see and feel in this most captivating medium of glass.”

The art studio, located at 147 W. Lake Road, Mayville, next to Webb’s Year-Round Resort, opened Memorial Day weekend. The cousins will host a grand-opening celebration the weekend of June 28-30. Woodbury Vineyards will be serving wine during the event that will feature Bentivegna’s and Williams’ work.

“It is time to introduce ourselves to the community,” Bentivegna said.

The cousins discussed opening an art studio together for years while taking walks around the Mayville community. However, the idea didn’t come to fruition until the location of the studio became available for the artists.

“We work well together, we harmonize each other,” Bentivegna said. “We get comments all the time that our work goes well together, and we don’t plan on that happening.”

Williams said the pair come from a long line of Mayville business owners. Their grandfather, Joseph Cash, was a shoe maker in the lakeside community in the 1920s. In the 1970s, Williams’ father, Tony Cash, ran a pizzeria.

“Now we are third-generation business owners in Mayville,” Williams said. “We are carrying on a family tradition.”

The artists will have special events in July. The week of July 8-12 will feature art and wellness, July 15-19 will focus on art and family and July 22-26 will spotlight art and nature. Each Friday at 1 p.m., an artist will be featured during the special events. Bob Henry will be The Living Glass and Living Art Studio guest on July 25. Henry is a nature photographer.

The Living Glass and Living Art Studio displays vibrant art for one-of-a-kind gifts and allows people to create their own art. The artists provide people with opportunities through unique art classes, parties and events, for both adults and children.
