Victoria C. Mackowiak

Victoria C. Mackowiak, 95, of Dunkirk, died Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk. Born in Dunkirk, Aug. 31, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Garbacz) Stempien. She was a past employee of the former Van Raalte

Corporation and the M. Wile Plant in Dunkirk. Her memberships included Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig, the parish Rosary

Society, and past member of the former Mothers’ Club. Victoria enjoyed working in her garden and her prized Roses. Surviving are her children: Barbara (Michael) Rosing of Dunkirk; SRM Elizabeth Mackowiak of Buffalo; Frederick (Marcia) Mackowiak of Dunkirk; Pamela (the late Brian) De-

laplane of Colorado Springs, Co.; her brother Mathew (Donna) Stempien of Dunkirk; eight grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Many

nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard M. Mackowiak, who died March 20, 1993; brothers Joseph Stempien and infant brother Herman; sisters Bernice Wojcinski, Jane Hadys, and Mary Smagner. Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are to be made to HOSPICE of Chautauqua County, 20 W. Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750.
