Three palms

OBSERVER Photo by Nicole Gugino

Pictured is Eagle Scout Tyler Strano of Silver Creek Troop 252 at the Court of Honor where he recently received three palms, an achievement no other Eagle Scout in Silver Creek has reached. To become an Eagle Scout requires 21 merit badges, demonstrating Scout Spirit and a service project. Strano’s service project was dedicating a handmade bench to Silver Creek graduate Justin Phillips, who died in a fire in 2011. Each palm earned requires remaining active in the troop for at least three months, continued Scout Spirit and earning at least five more merit badges all before reaching the age of 18. Strano will be a senior next year at Silver Creek High School.
