Brocton’s Alumni Association welcomes all from BCS to July 13 events

BROCTON – Brocton Central School’s Alumni Association will host a series of alumni events on July 13, and is calling all BCS alumni, past and present, faculty and staff to join the festivities.

At 8 a.m. on July 13, events kick off at Pinehurst Golf Course for a shotgun start Alumni Golf Scramble. The cost per golfer is $55, and includes golf, prizes, a hot dog and burger at the turn. Skins are available. Golfers can sign up individually (will be randomly assigned to teams) or as teams of four. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds go to scholarships. For further information, call Jon Esperson at 672-2092 or Bob Remington at 672-5498.

Beginning at 4:30 p.m., tours of Brocton Central School will be held originating from the school’s flag pole.

From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m, the Brocton Legion will be abuzz with a social hour featuring hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Live music will be provided by Brandon & The Timmermen.

From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., a chicken barbecue dinner will be available. Retired faculty Dick Prince and John Murgatroyd will emcee the evening, which will also include dancing.

The cost, which includes the social hour, dinner and dancing is only $20. For those who can’t attend the dinner, it’s just $5 to attend the balance of the evening, which includes dancing and socializing. The cash bar continues throughout the evening with music by Sam Hyman from 8 p.m. to midnight.

All current or retired BCS faculty and employees are welcome and encouraged to attend these events. Alumni often ask about former BCS staff and reminisce about how so many of them impacted their lives. All past and present faculty and staff are also welcome to join the Alumni Association, which works to make scholarships possible every year for deserving BCS seniors. This year, four $1,000 scholarships were awarded at the BCS high school graduation ceremony.

However, members of the community don’t have to belong to the association in order to help out. Anyone wishing to help with set up or food preparation can come to the Brocton Legion at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13. Anyone wishing to donate an appetizer can deliver it to the Legion by 5 p.m. Also, if anyone would like to donate money toward appetizers or scholarships, donations can be sent to the BCS Alumni Association, P.O. Box 195, Brocton, NY 14716.

Registration forms and more information can be found at or by contacting Kathy Peters, alumni association president, at 679-5814 or; or Mary Ellen Westin at 792-9472 or All are asked to register by June 30.
