Twenty years ago 1993
Well-known attorney Samuel R. Miserendino will serve as keynote speaker at tomorrow’s Silver Creek Central School Commencement. Born in Silver Creek, he is a graduate of Silver Creek High School, Class of 1944. The valedictorian of his class, Mr. Miserendino is the founder and senior partner of the law firm of Miserendino, Krull and Foley, P.C., consisting of 13 attorneys with offices in Buffalo, Angola and Dunkirk.
Thirty years ago – 1983
The Gowanda Moose Club officially opened its new lodge hall on Aldrich Street extension on June 12. Extensive remodeling of the Aldrich Street building, formerly owned by the Baumgarden Chevrolet Buick Inc. has resulted in a larger banquet hall and dining facilities as well as clubrooms and offices for the lodge. The Gowanda Moose Club was at its former location at 185 Buffalo St., Gowanda for 58 years. The Gowanda Lodge began with 125 charter members and grew to a membership of 1,000 by 1951.
Forty years ago – 1973
Production is now under way at the new Petri Baking Products plant at 653 Brigham Road, Dunkirk. The building rests on property owned by Richard Petri of Silver Creek, company president.
Fifty years ago – 1963
Nancy Adams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Towne Adams and a student at Forestville High School, will visit Guayaquil, Ecuador this summer under the sponsorship of the International Fellowship Exchange Program.
