Gowanda to host electronics recycling event
The village of Gowanda will host an electronics recycling event this morning. The event will be held at the sewer plant on Aldrich Street from 8:30 to 10 a.m.
Fredonia mayor to appear on Senior Report
Senior Report with Reed Powers will have Stephen Keefe as the guest on today’s television program.
Keefe is mayor of the village of Fredonia. The live, call-in program airs from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday morning. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out. The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 and 8 p.m. for some communities.
Reed Powers, host of Senior Report, has been producing the television program since 1995. The series highlights senior citizen club news for 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour-long program devoted to the featured guest. The guest is subject to change.
Senior Report is shown live on Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering the following communities: Brocton, Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Falconer, Forestville, Hanover, Irving, Jamestown, Lakewood and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19. The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville.
DSS to hold foster parent informational meeting
The Chautauqua County Department of Social Services will hold an information meeting on Tuesday, July 2 at 6 p.m. at the Jamestown Community College Training Center, North Campus, on Bennett Road in Dunkirk for those interested in learning more about becoming foster parents. Foster parents are needed in the area for children of all ages and for groups of siblings. For more information, call 661-8212.
Mayville Library to host author
The Mayville Library will host author Kolleen Lucariello for a book signing on Tuesday, July 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. Lucariello will have copies of her book, “The ABC’s of Who God Says I Am,” available for purchase. Lucariello currently lives in Parish, but is a native of Mayville. For more information, call the library at 752-7362.
Registration under way for second summer session
Jamestown Community College’s second summer session, July 8 to Aug. 15, will offer day and evening courses as well as online learning opportunities at JCC’s Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses, North County and Warren centers.
In-person registration will be conducted until July 5 for Summer Session II. Online course registration and a complete listing of courses is available at www.sunyjcc.edu/summer.

Volunteers needed to build deck
