Hanover Gateway Access 12 program change announced

Due to a number of technical issues, the Senior Report with Reed Powers will no longer be available on Access Channel 12 in the town of Hanover. The show is also broadcast on channel 19 and viewers are directed to tune in to channel 19 at 9 a.m. on Saturday to watch the live show.

The Senior Report with Reed Powers features Reed Powers who conducts lively discussions with guests from around the region.

21 East Bookstore book sale Saturday

A book sale will be held at 21 East Bookstore Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Paperbacks are 50 cents; hardcovers $1 unless otherwise marked. Shoppers should use the Washington Street entrance.

Proceeds benefit the Literacy Volunteers of Chautauqua County.

Valley Historical Society to meet today

The next regular meeting of the Valley Historical Society will be today at 7 p.m. in the museum at the corner of Main and Lester streets in Sinclairville. The program will be “Patriotic Moment and Birthday Celebration.”

Blood drive in Cassadaga Wednesday

The Cassadaga Fire Department Auxiliary will host a Community Blood Drive Wednesday at the Mill Street Community Building from 3 to 6 p.m. The auxiliary will award a $25 gas card to a local winner. All donors will also be entered into a drawing for a $250 gas card awarded by the Community Blood Drive during July.

Holiday week forces changes at City Hall, trash collection

Dunkirk City Hall will be closed Thursday in observance of Independence Day.

Residents in District A (Thursday collection zone) will have their rubbish picked up on Friday. Residents in District D (Friday collection zone) will have their rubbish picked up on Saturday.

Land Bank meeting set for Wednesday

The Chautauqua County Department of Planning and Economic Development will hold an official meeting of the Chautauqua County Land Bank Corporation Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the CCIDA Board Room, 200 Harrison St., Jamestown.

This general meeting of the CCLBC is being conducted to discuss business associated with the disposition of Land Bank Properties and other official business as required (agenda will be provided at the meeting).

The press, public and other stakeholders are invited to attend.

Gas prices fall

Average retail gasoline prices in Rochester have fallen 2.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.65/g Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 319 gas outlets in Rochester. This compares with the national average that has fallen 5.7 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.50/g

Jackson Lecture July 9

Charles Fried, Beneficial Professor of Law at Harvard Law School, will deliver Chautauqua Institution’s 9th annual Robert H. Jackson Lecture on the Supreme Court of the United States on July 9 at 4 p.m. in Chautauqua’s Hall of Philosophy.

Road reopened

County Route 626, Beech Hill Road between Route 380 and Parcell Road, in Portland is now open.
