Derrick Walters and Jamison Horch both knocked homers to lead Fredonia in a victorious effort. Owen Nicosia had three singles while Tyler Winchall added a double. Walters allowed just three singles on the mound to earn the win.

Bobby Samuelson, Trent Wood and Nathan Abbey recorded Falconer’s only hits.

Bemus Point 0

Trent Wood pitched a one-hit shutout for Falconer in the win. Wood helped his own cause at the plate with a double while Cody Dallas (double) and Timmy Wright (single) collected Falconer’s other hits.

Teige Jones tossed a three-hitter in defeat for Bemus Point and Joe Landry knocked the lone hit.

Fredonia Little League Wright League

Firemen 14, Medicor 2

Tanner Haas, Caleb Reynolds and Brandon Wallace pitched well on the mound and allowed the Firemen to end the 2013 season with a win. Wallace, Haas, Aaron Pacos, Keith Piper, and Reynolds recorded hits at the plate in a victorious effort.

Piper led the Firemen with two double plays while Gabe Johnson stood out defensively.

Jake Helmer, Jack Storm, CJ Brown and David Bartholomew combined to strike out seven Firemen in a losing effort for Medicor. Brown and Bartholomew were responsible for the team’s only hits while Medicor infielders turned two double plays.

Gowanda Summer Program Begins July 8

The Gowanda Recreation Department will begin its six-week summer program on Monday, July 8 at St. John Park. The program will run Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. There is no cost to attend the program except for optional field trips. A free breakfast and lunch is served each day. All parents/guardians who missed the pre-registration on July 3 can still sign up their children on July 8. Call the Recreation Office at 532-3431 for more information.

Cassadaga Valley Midget Football

Cassadaga Valley Midget Football will be holding registration for players and cheerleaders on July 2 from 6-8 p.m. at the Sinclairville Fire Hall and on July 9 from 6-8 p.m., at the Sinclairville Elementary Soccer Fields. Registration fee is $50 for one player and $75 for two; or $80 for families with three or more athletes.

Players and cheerleaders must turn 9 by Dec. 1, and cannot turn 14 prior to Aug. 1. Copies of birth certificates are needed at sign ups.

Buffalo 716ers Announce

Summer League

The Buffalo 716ers have announced a new basketball league open to teams and players in Dunkirk. The league will play on Sunday nights beginning July 7 at Dunkirk High School.

The league includes live stats, live video, photos, college officials and more. To register as a free agent or a team, visit buffalo716ers.net/summer.

The league fee is $250 per team while players can register for $25.

The league will run through Sept. 1.
