Youth Baseball

District 38 11-12 Year-Olds

Fredonia 10, Hanover 0 – Derrick Walters and Trey Swartz combined for eight strike outs and a perfect game on the hill while Swartz, Owen Nicosia and Jamison Horch each tallied two hits. Alec Schrader recorded a double in the win.

Stephen Romanik played well defensively at catcher for Hanover while Nick Stalker suffered the loss on the hill.

Dunkirk Majors

Lucky Lanes 5, First Ward Falcons 2 – Patrick Muldowney had two hits to lead Lucky Lanes while teammates Justin Santiago, Troy Lanski and Jared Glowniak all had hits in the win. Darnell Butts had a hit for the Falcons.

Lucky Lanes 12, Kosciuszko 1 – Patrick Muldowney was outstanding on the mound striking out 12 hitters en route to picking up the win for Lucky Lanes.

John Banach and Jared Glowniak both had triples in support of Muldowney.

Tyler Davis had two hits for the Kosciuszko Club.

House League (Division 6)

Team 604 4, Team 602 4 – Alex Brown led team 604 with three assists while Alexander Stegmeier had two goals.

Justin Price had one goal and one assist and Nick Walter chipped in a goal. Andrea Colan was between the pipes to help Team 604 to the tie.

Team 604 12, Team 606 2 – Nick Walter led Team 604 with two goals and four assists while Alex Brown had three goals and two assists, Joshua Crane had two goals and four assists, Matt Johnson had two goals and two assists and Justin Price chipped in a goal and two assists.

Andrea Colan picked up the win between the pipes for the victory.

The Women Who Golf For Fun – Sandi Gloss took first place while Pat Kaus finished second. Golfer of the Week went to Dodo Dudek. The women will return to their regular day next Wednesday, teeing-off at 10 a.m.

JCC Basketball Camps

Jamestown Community College will hold a basketball camp for boys aged 8 to 15 from July 8 through July 11. Camp will begin at 8 a.m. and run until noon each day. The cost is $95.

Camp directors will include George Sisson and Brian Hodgson.

There will also be a girls’ basketball camp from July 15 through July 18, from 8 a.m. until noon each day. The cost is $95. Sisson will direct the girls’ camp.

Both camps will be held at the PHED at JCC.

Gowanda Summer

Program Begins July 8

The Gowanda Recreation Department will begin its six-week summer program on Monday, July 8 at St. John Park. The program will run Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. There is no cost to attend the program except for optional field trips. A free breakfast and lunch is served each day. All parents/guardians who missed the pre-registration on July 3 can still sign up their children on July 8. Call the Recreation Office at 532-3431 for more information.

Cassadaga Valley Midget Football

Cassadaga Valley Midget Football will be holding registration for players and cheerleaders on July 9 from 6-8 p.m., at the Sinclairville Elementary Soccer Fields. Registration fee is $50 for one player and $75 for two; or $80 for families with three or more athletes.

Players and cheerleaders must turn 9 by Dec. 1, and cannot turn 14 prior to Aug. 1. Copies of birth certificates are needed at sign ups.

Buffalo 716ers Announce

Summer League

The Buffalo 716ers have announced a new basketball league open to teams and players in Dunkirk. The league will play on Sunday nights beginning July 7 at Dunkirk High School.

The league includes live stats, live video, photos, college officials and more. To register as a free agent or a team, visit buffalo716ers.net/summer.

The league fee is $250 per team while players can register for $25.

The league will run through Sept. 1.

Springboard Diving Camp

Fredonia State will conduct a springboard diving camp July 8-12 at the Steele Hall Natatorium. All interested divers aged 6-18 will be accepted.

The camp will emphasize proper entries into the water, approaches, somersaults and twists. A trampoline with spotting belt and dryboard pit are among the apparatus used by the participants.

Old First Night Run/Walk/Swim

at Chautauqua Institution

The Chautauqua Sports Club at Chautauqua Institution will hold the Old First Night Run/Walk/Swim at the complex Saturday, Aug. 3 at 9 a.m. A $25 donation serves as the entry fee and includes a T-shirt as well as age group awards in 10-year brackets. Joy Golf Tournament

Moved to Gowanda CC

The Russell J. Joy Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit TLC Health Network has switched locations and will be played at Gowanda Country Club, 2623 Brown Street, Collins on Wednesday, August 28. Registration is set for 11 a.m. and tee-off is set for noon.
