July 4th parade to be televised

MAYVILLE – Mayville’s July 4th parade will be televised live and available to most area cable viewers. Access Channel 5 will begin coverage at 9:45 a.m. Thurs-day. John “Doc” Hamels will be host of the special.

“We have done live coverage of the parade before, but that was several years ago,” said Chuck Kelsey, executive director of the station. Kelsey stated that after the studio location changed, it became economically im-possible to continue live coverage. “We believe that we’ve come up with a solution that will allow us to resume live coverage,” Kelsey said.

Through a cooperative arrangement, the broadcast will go live in most of Chautauqua County. Some of the cable access channels will replay the parade at later times as well.

Live coverage will be carried on channel 5 in Brocton, Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Fre-donia, Mayville, North Har-mony, Portland, Ripley, Sher-man, Stockton and Westfield. In Dunkirk, Falconer, Forestville, Hanover, Irving, Jamestown, Lakewood and Silver Creek, the program will be on channel 19.

Replays will happen on channel 5 from July 6 to July 13 at 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. each day and on channel 19 for the Jamestown area at noon from July 8 to July 21.
