Fay Zimmerman Robinson, age 92, formerly of Fredonia, NY, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013, in Novi, Michigan, where she had lived for the past 4 years. Mrs. Robinson was born April 17, 1921 in New York City to the late Leo and Esther Zimmerman.
In 1942, she married her husband, Dr. Arthur Robinson, who passed away March 30, 2010. Dr. and Mrs. Robinson were married 68 years at the time of Dr. Robinson’s death. In 1946, they moved to the Fredonia area where Dr. Robinson established his podiatry practice and where the couple raised their four children. When Dr. and Mrs. Robinson first moved to the area, they rented a room on Maple Avenue, Dunkirk with kitchen privileges. Later they moved to Fredonia, residing first on Leverett Street, then on Middlesex Drive. They were one of the first families to live on Middlesex Drive. In 1950, they moved to Holmes Place.
Fay is survived by her 3 daughters: Sally (Peter) Melencio, of Massachusetts, Ellen (Sam) Liao also of Massachusetts, and Debbie (Steve) Gasworth of Michigan. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 2 great- grandchildren, her brother, Manny Zimmerman of Arizona, and her daughter- in-law, Mary Robinson of Virginia.
Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Robinson was predeceased by her son, David Robinson, who died in 2001, and older brother, Irving Zimmerman.
Services were privately held on July 4, 2013 at Willowbrook Park Cemetery, Dunkirk, NY. Arrangements by David J. Dengler. Larson-Timko Funeral Home (679-9000).
