Dunkirk Town Board special meeting today

The town of Dunkirk will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the town hall to discuss the proposed resolution to support Chautauqua County as the lead applicant to submit a grant application for the purpose of establishing a northern county regional water district. A workshop with zoning board members will follow the meeting.

Fredonia History Days July 19-20

The 2013 Fredonia History Days are coming on July 19 and 20 in Barker Common.

One of the main attractions this year are the Historical Carriage Tours narrated by Pomfret Town Historian Todd Langworthy. The tour is close to an hour long, featuring a beautiful evening horse-drawn carriage ride around the Village of Fredonia with historian Todd Langworthy as your guide. Learn about Fredonia’s past and enjoy the ride as you visit many historic sites found throughout the village. Tickets are $10 each and available

Saturdays at the Festivals Fredonia booth at the Fredonia Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tour times for both Friday and Saturday are 7, 8, 9 and 10 p.m. with departure from the Information Booth.

Tickets often sell out, so make sure to stop by the Farmers Market to pick up yours today for your tour of choice.

Ripley school board meeting Thursday

The reorganizational meeting of the Ripley Central School Board of Education will be held on Thursday at 6:30 p.m., followed by a regular Board of Education Meeting, in the Distance Learning Room, of the Ripley Central School.

A. J. Dolce to appear on Senior Report

Senior Report with Reed Powers will have A. J. Dolce as the guest on Saturday’s television program. Dolce is mayor of Dunkirk.

The live, call-in program airs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays. Individuals may call 753-5225 during that time with questions, comments or a shout-out. The program is rebroadcast each day at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. for some communities.

Senior Report is shown live on Saturday mornings on Time Warner cable systems covering the following communities: Brocton, Cassadaga, Chautauqua, Fredonia, Mayville, North Harmony, Portland, Ripley, Sherman, Stockton and Westfield on Channel 5. In Dunkirk, Falconer, Forestville, Hanover, Irving, Jamestown, Lakewood and Silver Creek the program is on channel 19. The show originates at the Access Channel 5 studio in Mayville.

Hanover water bills payable in town hall

Town of Hanover water bills are payable at the Town Clerk’s Office in the Hanover Town Hall, 68 Hanover St., Silver Creek. The last day to make payment penalty-free is July 19. After that date, a 10 percent penalty will be added.

Lupus Alliance plans new patient

orientation meeting

The Lupus Alliance of Upstate New York will hold a New Patient Orientation meeting on Wednesday at the Lupus Alliance Office, 3871 Harlem Road, Cheektowaga, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

All newly diagnosed lupus patients, their families and friends are welcome. there will be current literature available as well as a video and time for questions.

There is no charge for the program, but reservations are necessary. Call the Lupus Alliance at 835-7161.

Silver Creek Board

to meet Wednesday

The Silver Creek Village Board will meet for a workshop with officials from the Silver Creek Volunteer Fire Department Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the village hall to discuss the purchase of a new fire truck.

This meeting is open to the public.

Gas prices fall

Average retail gasoline prices in Rochester have fallen 1.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.64/g Sunday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 319 gas outlets in Rochester.

This compares with the national average that has fallen 0.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.49/g, according to gasoline price website
