Westfield resident making a big difference at Job Corps

CASSADAGA – Jillian Pettis, of Westfield, is the most recent recipient of the Employee of the Month Award at the Cassadaga Job Corps Academy. Pettis is a CNA Instructor teaching the introductory healthcare program. She is often the first person to introduce the young people she works with to the career path they wish to pursue, and works with them to lay the very foundation they will build their career upon. She began at Job Corps three years ago as a substitute Academic Instructor. She is a graduate of SUNY Fredonia, holding a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

When talking about her experience at the Academy, Pettis said “I really enjoy working with our students. I also really appreciate working with the team we have here. Everyone tries to help one another whenever possible.” Career Development Director Robert Benjamin said “Jillian connects with every single student in a very special way. She has a work ethic that never quits, and is the type of educator we all aspire to be.”

The Cassadaga Job Corps Academy provides career technical training to young people age 16-24 to assist them in gaining employment in high demand occupational fields. Students enrolled in Cassadaga Job Corps will pursue careers in construction or healthcare and all students enrolled attend on full federal scholarship.
