‘A Stir of Artists’ features two weekends of local talent
BEMUS POINT – Bemus Point’s Village Park will be alive with artists for two weekends this summer.
Parking and admission are free for the third annual A Stir of Artists art show and sale from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, July 20 and 21, and Aug. 3 and 4. The show takes place rain or shine.
Organizer Kristen Paduano McNitt said there are 30 fine artisans from Western New York and northwestern Pennsylvania with a wide variety of media and talents. Artists setting up to demonstrate their medium with woodworking, face painting, plein air painting, sketching and more. Exhibitors will have artworks for sale.
The park is centrally located in the village, which also offers a variety of restaurants and eateries for dining.
Featured artists on July 20 and 21 include Catherine O’ Connor, a glass artist from Lockport; Deborah Florian a glass artist, and Bill Smith, a photographer, both of Cherry Creek; Keith McKale, a wood carver and scroll saw artist, from Ellicottville; Barney Kuzara Jr., an oil painter from Dunkirk; Renne Pye, an artist specializing in dolls and mixed media, Clara Hansen, who does 3D art, jewelry and pottery, Phyllis Caloren, who makes jewelry and scarves, and Bruce Johnson, wood cutting boards, all from Bemus Point; Suzette Paduano, a photographer, and Jerry Paduano, a pencil and acrylic artist from Panama; Butch Poole, a photographer, Mark Desmond a watercolor painter, Kristen McNitt, an artist specializing in acrylic and face painting, and Michael Angilella, an acrylic artist, all of Jamestown; Judith Whittaker, who does acrylic paintings, from Frewsburg; Mary Ellen Hanna, a watercolor artist, from Angola; and Shawn Silverwood, who works with copper and jewelry, from Getzville. Numerous artists from Pennsylvania will also participate.
Artists participating Aug. 3 and 4 are as follows: Karen Fitzpatrick, a glass artist from Ellicottville; Fran Zaborowski, a fiber artist, and Dave Zaborowki, a wood worker, both of whom are from Westfalls, N.Y.; Marian Aranyos, a watercolor and collage artist, Debbie Moyer, a metal and jewelry artist, and Linda Mason, who specializes in wearable art, all from Warren; Patty Prechtl, a watercolor artist from St. Mary’s, Pa.; Christopher Nemeth, specializing in oils, from Allison Park, Pa.; Jacque Hodges, a pottery and watercolor artist from Corry; Cheryl Swanson, a woodworker; Northrop; McKale; Deborah Florian, a glass artist from Cherry Creek; Caloren; Marie Lewis, a sea glass jewelry artist, and Hansen, all from Bemus Point; the Paduanos; Poole; Kristen McNitt and Angilella, all of Jamestown; Hanna; Judith Whittaker and Mary Ann Jankowski, a watercolor and acrylic artist from Angola.
