Fredonia History Days schedule announced

Below is a schedule of events for Fredonia History Days, the annual festival held in Barker Common and the downtown Fredonia area. This festival celebrates Fredonia’s unique history, provides family entertainment and features events from a classic car show to a live-music screening of “Phantom of the Opera.”

Friday

4 to 7 p.m.: Chicken’ n’ Ribs Barbecue for the Telecommunications Museum of Fredonia at 44 Temple St.

4 p.m.: Food vendors begin behind the Gazebo

6 to 9 p.m.: Classic Car Show – Registration is FREE and starts at 5 p.m. – sign up at the registration table.

6 to 9 p.m.: Live ’50s music in the Gazebo by The Untouchables

7 to 10 p.m.: Historical Trolley Tours at 7, 8, 9 and 10 p.m. Tickets available each night at the Information Booth starting at 6:30 p.m. or by stopping at the Festivals Fredonia booth at the Fredonia Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Limited space on each tour.

Saturday

8 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Fredonia Farmer’s Market – extended hours by many vendors

10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Chautauqua County Historical Organization displays in the history tent, including the Town of Pomfret, Sheridan Historical Society, Town of Arkwright, Towns of Harmony/Panama, WCA Home, Project: Underground Railroad Map of Chautauqua County, Dunkirk Historical Society, Fredonia Grange No.1, Robert H. Jackson Center of Jamestown.

10 a.m.: Food vendors begin behind the Gazebo

10 a.m. to noon: Kid’s Activities – Gazebo Area – Including the following: “Party Ponies” pony rides, authentic 60s tie-dye party (kids/adults can make their own shirts to keep for $2), Kathy Civilette’s Hula Hoops

10:30 to 11:30 a.m.: Fredonia History Days Pie Contest – Gazebo area

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Salad Bar Luncheon – Garland Hall (back of Trinity Episcopal Church at 11 Day St.)

Noon to 1 p.m.: Channel 7’s Mike Randall & Friends Family Puppet Show at the Gazebo

1 to 5 p.m.: Civil War Medicine tent with “Dr.” Joe Bolivard – Barker Common East adjacent to Farmer’s Market

1 to 4 p.m.: Walking tours of the village with Mayor Keefe – Tickets/departure at the Information Booth

1:30 to 3:30 p.m.: Acoustic rock with Lemon 12 featuring Rik MacKenzie, Pete Majka and Eli Tederous in the Gazebo

3:30 to 5:30 p.m.: Folk Dance with Allegheny Crossing featuring Fredonia’s own Dick and Carmen Gilman in the Gazebo

4 p.m.: Sold out chicken Barbecue in the park with the Fredonia High School Key Club

7 to 10 p.m.: Historical Trolley Tours at 7, 8, 9 and 10 p.m. Tickets available each night at the Information Booth starting at 6:30 p.m. or by stopping at the Festivals Fredonia booth at the Fredonia Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Limited space on each tour.

7:30 to 9:30 p.m.: Fredonia Opera House – “The Phantom of the Opera” with live music by the Andrew Alden Ensemble. The 1925 classic silent film starring Lon Chaney comes to life. General Admission is $12.
