Pacos family holds weekend-long reunion
The 37th annual Pacos family reunion was held recently, with family members enjoying many activities. On Friday night, family members gathered at Bart’s Cove for an informal “Happy Hour.” On Saturday, family golf enthusiasts met at Hillview Golf course in Fredonia for the fourth annual Pacos Reunion Golf Tournament. This year’s winners were Bryson Pacos and Tyler Pacos. Both received trophies donated by Gary Hermann and will have their names engraved on the permanent Pacos Golf Tournament Trophy.
Starting at noon on Saturday, 48 family members gathered at Russell Joy Park. Many new acquaintances were made when Larry Pacos and his family arrived from Arlington, Texas. Other family members attended from Florida, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Lackawanna, Bemus Point, Brocton, Dunkirk and Fredonia.
After a buffet luncheon at 2 p.m., the annual meeting was held. A moment of silent prayer was observed for deceased family members and for those who are ill, especially Elisha Kulpa, who is recovering in New York City from a double lung transplant. Last year’s minutes were read and accepted.
Recorded under new business were one wedding, two deaths, the 40th anniversary of Linda and Andrew Pacos and the 65th anniversary of Doris and Paul Pacos.
Texas, Alabama and New York City were some of the places visited by family members.
Next year’s reunion will be held on Friday, July 11 (Happy Hour) and Saturday, July 12 (golf tournament, 9 a.m.; picnic at Russell Joy Park, noon; buffet, 2 p.m.). Local family members are asked to pass this information along to their out-of-town members.
Leo Pacos Jr. will reserve the lower pavilion. Roger Pacos is in charge of Happy Hour. Nancie Hermann offered to reserve the golf course for 9 a.m. Saturday morning, July 12, 2014. Contact her if interested in playing golf that morning.
