Arkwright plans town picnic
ARKWRIGHT – The town of Arkwright will host their annual town picnic Aug. 3 from 1 to 8 p.m. at the American Legion Picnic Grounds at the corner of Bard and Barnum roads. The public is invited. Attendees should bring their own table settings and a dish to pass. It is also a “BYOB” event. A pig roast, hot dogs, sausage, coffee, tea and soda will be provided. Food will be served from 1 to 5 p.m. The event will feature horse-drawn wagon rides, volleyball and horseshoe games, basket raffles, and a 50/50. The playground will be open for young children.
The Arkwright Photo Contest will also be part of this event. The categories are “historic” and “scenic,” and entrants will be limited to three per category. The submission deadline is 2 p.m. The first place winner will receive $25, second place gets $15 and third place gets $10.
A pie contest will also be held. The entry fee is $1 per pie, and judging will take place at 3 p.m. The prizes for this contest are also cash, with first place winning $25, second place winning $15 and third place winning $10.
