Angeline Domanski

Angeline V. Domanski, age 101, of Dunkirk, died Thursday afternoon, July 25, 2013, with her family at her side.

She was born March 24, 1912, in Dunkirk, daughter of the late Franciszek and Stanislawa (Kraska) Gram-inski.

Mrs. Domanski had been the head cook at the Kosciuszko Polish Home in Dunkirk for the Fish Frys. She also was the Secretary of the Polish National Alliance Lodge #1193 for 70 years. In the past, she had worked in the cafeteria at St. Mary’s School and as a cleaner at Cardinal Mindszenty High School and Holy Cross Seminary.

A member of Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig, the parish Rosary Society and parish Ladies Society, she also sang in the Choir. She was a longtime member of the Kosciuszko Polish Home.

Angeline was well known for her waffles at the parish lawn fetes and her special coffee cakes. She loved to dance to Polish music.

Surviving are her children, Daniel (Dolores) Domanski of Cicero, NY, Judith Domanski of Dunkirk, Carolyn (Allen) Greenough of Forestville and Raymond Domanski of Dunkirk; daughter-in-law Judith Brand Domanski; 9 grandchildren Robert (Susan) Domanski, Kathryn (John) Hanewicz, Karen (James) Sparenberg, Jeffery (Tammy) Domanski, James (Debbie) Sajdak, Susan (David) Pelosi, Scot (Linda) Greenough, Gregory (Michelle) Greenough and Raymond Casimer Domanski; and 14 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Casimer Domanski, who died December 15, 1965; brothers John, Frank, Andrew, and Anthony Graminski, sisters Mary Switalski, Helen Graminski and Florence Gaken; and dear friend, Charlie Kolassa.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home Inc., 56 East Doughty Street in Dunkirk on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 o’clock in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment will be in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.
