Florence Ortolano, age 96, of Bennett Road, Dunkirk, NY died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the Chautauqua County Home.
She was born in Dunkirk on Sept. 13, 1916, the daughter of the late Stanley and Hedwig (Bialaszewski) Komsa.
A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Mrs. Ortolano was a former employee of Van Raalte and with her late husband owned and operated a grape farm. She loved to cook and can food.
Mrs. Ortolano was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
Surviving are two sons, Richard (Mryirim) Ortolano of Lake Havasty City, Ariz., and Robert (Linda) Ortolano of Dunkirk; her daughter, Barbara (James) Mooney of Tonawanda, NY and seven grandchildren: James, Thomas and Peter Mooney; Anthony, John and Zachary Ortolano and Pamela Cooper; and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Ortolano, who died March 4, 1990; and her brother, Anthony Komsa.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Monday, July 29, 2013 at 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. Private entombment will follow in the Resurrection Mausoleum in St. Mary’s Cemetery. There will be no prior visitation. Arrangements by the Newman Funeral Home Inc.
