Vendors and antique cars still sought

for celebration

The village of South Dayton will host a 30th anniversary in honor of the film “The Natural.” Vendors and antique cars from prior to the 1940s are being sought for the event which will be held Sept. 7 and Sept. 8 at the South Dayton Village Park. If anyone is interested in displaying a car or setting up a space for vendors, contact Vivian Gould at 988-5975.

Road closed

The City of Dunkirk Department of Public Works is advising motorists that the contractor working on the west end waterline project will have Brigham Road closed from Lake Shore Drive West to West Second Street today and Tuesday.

Perrysburg Town Hall

is an E-Z Pass location

Perrysburg Town Clerk Tamara A. Utley announces that her office is an E-ZPass retail location. E-ZPass is an Electronic Toll Collect-ion that prepayment of tolls. An E-ZPass tag can be purchased for $25 at the Perrysburg Town Hall, 10460 Peck Hill Road. The tag is active for immediate use.

With the E-ZPass tag, users receive a 5 percent savings on Thruway tolls and E-ZPass discounts on other roadways. The tag is acceptable in 15 states in the E-ZPass network.

Each account can have up to four E-ZPass tags. Those with an E-ZPass account can purchase a tag to add to the existing account.

For more information and to purchase a tag, stop at the Town Clerk’s office during regular business hours or call the Town Hall at 532-4090. Hours are Mon-days, Tuesdays and Thurs-days from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 1 to 7 p.m., and Sat-urday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Acceptable forms of payment include cash, check or credit card (with a small fee).

Reed announces Wednesday FEMA resource workshop

for local groups

Rep. Tom Reed an-nounced an upcoming Federal Emergency Manage-ment Agency workshop in Dunkirk to help local fire departments and EMS organizations better care for and meet their firefighting and emergency response needs and enhance those capabilities.

The workshop will be held Wednesday at the SUNY Fredonia Technology Incubator in Dunkirk.

The workshop is being held in conjunction with the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

Regional FEMA grant specialists will be on hand to offer information to local fire departments and nonaffiliated EMS organizations on how to navigate the application process and identify and utilize the resources available to them.

Since 2001, AFG has helped firefighters and other first responders to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources necessary to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.

First Friday to be held in Westfield Friday

The Westfield-Barcelona Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring First Friday on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. on Route 20 in front of the shops on Main Street.

Many businesses will be open late. There will be shopping, food, music, art and vendors set up along the sidewalk.

Traveler advisory

The New York State Department of Transporta-tion announced that a highway paving project is scheduled to begin today on Route 76 in Sherman. Motorists should expect to encounter daily lane closures on Route 76 between Route 474 and Sherman, between 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. Traffic will alternate the use of one lane controlled by flaggers in the vicinity of the work zone. This project is expected to last two weeks.

This work is weather dependent and will be delayed in the event of inclement weather.
