Debra Ann Hartwick
Debra Ann (Grant) Hartwick, 47, of La Conner, Washington, passed away at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Wednesday, July 24, 2013. She was born on September 13, 1965 in Irving, New York, the daughter of Peter and Margaret (Englert) Grant and raised in Dunkirk alongside her older sister Karen Coddington.
Debra was a proud Seminole alumna and graduate of Florida State University. After receiving her bachelor’s degree in marketing from the university, she was introduced to Mark Steven Hartwick. The couple shortly after exchanged vows on October 14, 1989 and the ceremony was held at the Holy Trinity Church in Dunkirk, New York. Deb and Mark first resided in Jacksonville, Florida where their first daughter Carly Renee was born on August 24, 1990. Three years followed and the couple’s second daughter, Sydney Nicole was born on July 12, 1993 in Hatfield, Pennsylvania. The family soon received orders to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station in Washington where they would settle in to a home, school, and careers. Deb was the consummate “Navy Wife” and “Soccer/Softball Mom,” a combination of joy, personality, pride, passion, dedication, and love.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Conner, Washington, with burial at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
