Man charged twice with DWI Sunday

PORTLAND – A Port-land man was charged twice with driving while intoxicated on the same night.

On Sunday, Rodney A. Austin, 26, of Route 20 was charged with DWI with a blood alcohol content of .08 by deputies. At 5:46 a.m. while Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies were handling another incident on Route 20 in the town of Portland, they observed Austin’s vehicle came to park directly in front of the sheriff’s patrol car.

Deputies recognized his vehicle from a previous DWI arrest in Brocton – Austin was stopped on Lake Avenue at 2:42 a.m. for having a loud exhaust and was found to be intoxicated.

As Austin exited his vehicle, deputies observed him to be in an intoxicated state and he was charged with DWI again. He was released on appearance tickets.

Woman charged after trying to hit minor with car

BEMUS POINT – A Bemus Point woman is facing charges after reportedly attempting to hit a minor with her car on July 25.

According to the New York State Police at Jamestown, troopers responded to a report of a domestic dispute. An investigation found Wendy Seastrum, 37, threw things at a minor victim and tried to hit her with her car.

Seastrum was charged with second-degree menacing and endangering the welfare of a child. She was processed and arraigned in Ellery Town court where she was sent to the Chautauqua County Jail.

Woman charged with assault after fight

CATTARAUGUS INDIAN RESERVATION – State Police at Collins responded to the Gowanda Urgent Care Center July 27 on the report of an assault. According to the victim, while at a party. Leanna Vanevery, 36, of Irving, struck her several times in the face before she blacked out.

Troopers were assisted by the Seneca Nation Mar-shall’s Office in locating Vanevery. Vanevery was charged with third-degree assault and will appear in the Brant Town Court at a later date.

Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office

PORTLAND – Jacob D. Chelton, 31, of Brocton was charged with failure to use a designated lane and unlawful possession of marijuana Saturday. At 11:53 p.m. observed Chelton’s vehicle commit a lane violation on Route 20. During the traffic stop, Chelton was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was released on appearance tickets for Portland Town Court.

John R. McPherson, 42, of Attica was charged with driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .08 or higher and failure to keep right Sunday. At 2:07 a.m. deputies observed McPherson’s vehicle fail to keep right on Route 5 in the town of Pomfret. During the traffic stop, deputies found him to be intoxicated. McPherson was released on an appearance ticket.

Gowanda Police remind residents to lock vehicles

The Gowanda Police Department reminds all residents to not leave vehicle keys inside the vehicle or to leave valuables inside the vehicle parked overnight. All vehicles should be locked when parked.

Robert Dyer, 50, of East Main Street was charged with disorderly conduct July 21. During patrol police observed Dyer, who ap-peared intoxicated, yelling obscenities at another subject in the presence of young children. He was released on an appearance ticket.

Roland T. White, 40, of East Main Street was charged with child endangerment July 23. Police responded to a report of a disturbance involving three young children on East Main Street. Through investigation, it was discovered the children had been physically abused, and White was charged for his part in allowing and encouraging this behavior to occur. He was released on an appearance ticket. The Erie County Child Protection Agency was notified.

Kevin D. Goodemote, 57, of Cattaraugus was charged with operating a vehicle with a suspended registration July 24. During routine patrol the license plate reader alerted to Goodemote’s vehicle whose registration was suspended for an insurance lapse. Goodemote was released on an appearance ticket.

Jamie E. Schiefer, 20, of Erie Avenue was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana July 24. Schiefer was a passenger stopped regarding an investigation of an incident in Gowanda. During this stop, he was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Schiefer was released on an appearance ticket.

Richard K. Cornfield, 56, of North Collins was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, operating a vehicle without an interlock device and speeding on July 26. At 2:20 p.m. Cornfield was observed speeding on Broadway Road. A DMV computer check revealed his license was revoked in 2010 for a driving while intoxicated conviction and an interlock device was mandated. He was arraigned in Persia Town Court and released on $5,000 bail.

Alissa C. Jones, 41, of Union Street was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and menacing a police officer on July 27. At 5:49 p.m. Jones, who appeared intoxicated, arrived at Gowanda Police station to report a larceny but became hostile and threatened officers with a stick. She refused orders to drop the stick and continued to threatened officers. She was released on an appearance ticket.

James W. Bish, 43, of East Main Street was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and having a controlled substance in a non-original container on July 27. At 9:13 p.m. police responded to an East Main Street address for a violent domestic dispute in progress. Bish, who ap-peared under the influence of drugs, became physically aggressive and combative toward police and refused several orders. A taser was used to subdue Bish who was discovered to be in possession of several Loritab narcotic pills not prescribed to him. He was evaluated by Gowanda Ambulance Service and released on an appearance ticket.

Seymour J. White, 34, of Perrysburg was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and having a controlled substance in a non-original container on July 29. At 12:07 a.m. patrol was alerted to a suspicious vehicle parked on the roadway on Palmer Street. While investigating the vehicle, White confessed to driving the vehicle to that location. White was found to be in possession of Loritab narcotic pills which were not prescribed to him and a DMV computer check revealed White’s license was suspended for a driving while intoxicated conviction. White was arraigned in Persia Town Court and sent to the Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of $750 bail.

KIANTONE – Wilson Cooper, 38, of Jamestown, was charged July 24 with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. Cooper was stopped for a traffic violation while driving through a road check on Route 62 and was taken into custody after his license was found to be suspended. He was arraigned in the Carroll Town Court and sent to the Chautauqua County Jail. Cooper is scheduled to appear in the Town of Kiantone Court on a later date.

ELLICOTT – Deserae McKale, 32, of Frewsburg, was charged July 25 with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation after being stopped on Route 60 for a traffic violation. McKale’s licence was found to be suspended since January. She was arraigned in Ellicott Town Court and released on her own recognizance. McKale will appear back in court at a later date.

Aurelio Lopez, 27, of Townsend Street was charged with possessing an open container of alcohol and criminal trespass July 24.

Cristian Maestie of Ruggles Street was charged with resisting arrest on Thursday.

Travis Franklin, 25, of Armadillo Street was charged with obstruction on Friday.

Klarisa Foster, 23, of Forestville was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Friday.

Wayne Finley, 29, of East Second Street was charged with obstructing a government administration on Friday.

Virgilio Rodriguez, 44, of Robin Street was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation on Friday.

Tara Bess, 42, of Middle Road was charged with second-degree menacing on Saturday.

A bench warrant was issued for Shanequa Eldridge, 23, of East Tenney Street on Saturday for charges of obstruction, resisting arrest and attempted assault.

Edward Casey Jr., 19, of South Main Street was charged with disorderly conduct on Friday.

Stephanie Buchanan, 33, of Front Street was charged with second-degree harassment on Sunday.

Ron Winchell, 48, of Central Avenue was charged with second-degree harassment on Monday.

Christian Gerholdt, 21, of West Main Road, Fredonia, was charged with petit larceny on Monday.
