Night Lights attraction resumes Friday

PANAMA – Imagine walking on a one-mile trail in the forest at night, where the landscapes are transformed with ever-changing colorful lighting that highlights the various aspects of the plant life and landscapes. You’ll experience this and more at the Chautauqua Lake region’s unique tourism attraction Night Lights at The Heron in Panama. Back for its fifth season, the eco-tourism attraction continues to grow into one of North America’s unique experiences.

Night Lights at The Heron is open Friday and Saturday nights from Aug. 2 to Oct. 5. It is also open the Sunday of Labor Day weekend on Sept. 1. The attractions is open from dusk to 11 p.m. Admission is $10 adults, $5 children 12 to 7 years old. 6 years and under are free. The Heron is located at 2361 Wait Corners Road, Sherman.

“We are thrilled to celebrate our fifth year lighting up the woods for visitors at The Heron,” organizer Doug Sitler said. “We love the challenge of transforming the beautiful Chautauqua County landscape into a wonderful, exploratory piece of art that will leave a remarkable impression on our guests. Simply put, there’s nothing like this place in North America.”

Situated on an 200-acre certified-organic farm called The Heron, guests walk a smooth one-mile trail past ponds and into a forest filled with colorful lighting schemes and art. Guest eventually encounter the Cafe in the Woods; a combination cafe and performance stage. Every Saturday night, Night Lights features a wide-variety of entertainment ranging from bands, authors, artists and a magician.

A majority of the lighting is LED technology and is utilized to highlight the natural landscapes of the Heron’s lush forests, ponds and trails. In some cases, guests can interact with the lighting which allows them to create their own imprint on Night Lights. The creators of Night Lights are also producers of Night Lights at The Gardens at the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens in Buffalo, which attracted over 8,000 people in 12 nights this past February.
