Strictly Hip to play the pier

Jeremy Hoyle and Strictly Hip return to the pier to-night for the fourth straight year. Strictly Hip has been honored 11 times by the Buffalo Music Awards as Top Tribute Band.

Strictly Hip has received mention and praise from media outlets across North America, including Toronto Life Magazine, SPIN Magazine (yes, THAT Spin Magazine), Buffalo News Gusto cover story, a feature article in Canada’s national newspaper Globe & Mail and recognized by Buffalo Spree Magazine’s BEST OF BUFFALO edition. Just to name a few!

The band’s lineup features some of Buffalo’s top rock-n-roll musicians, including guitarists Frank Nicastro and Bruce Wojcik, vocalist Jeremy Hoyle, Alan Sliwinski on bass and drummer Johnny Panic. For over 15 years Strictly Hip has been one of the most recognized and respected bands in the western New York region and southern Ontario.

Food will be available, as well as a beer and wine tent. Dunkirk Festival T-shirts will be available for purchase at the Welcome Tent.

Special meeting in Portland today

The Portland Supervisor has called a special meeting/workshop today at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall to authorize payment of CHIPS money and a workshop to discuss the assessor’s responsibilities.

Adult Learner Information Day Tuesday at JCC North

Jamestown Community College’s North County Center in Dunkirk will host an Adult Learner Informa-tion Day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The event is designed for individuals who have been out of high school several years and are considering college enrollment this fall or in the future.

Fall semester courses at JCC begin Aug. 26. JCC’s North County Center is located at 10807 Bennett Road.

Gowanda Area Neighborhood Watch meeting Monday

The Gowanda Area Neighborhood Watch will host a meeting on Monday at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Hidi Fire Hall at 99 Beech St., Gowanda.

Silver Creek Village Board to meet early

The Silver Creek Village Board will begin its workshop early Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the village hall. The purpose is to meet with EJP on the water meters. The regular board meeting will immediately follow the workshop.
