Collins Center Seniors

The Collins Center Seniors had a beautiful day for their picnic lunch and meeting July 22.

The motor coach for the “Buffalo’s Best” trip Wednesday Aug. 7 will depart from the parking lot behind the stores on Main Street. in Gowanda at 8 a.m. sharp.

The next two trips to the Seneca Niagara Casino will be Aug. 20 and Sept. 17.

Sept. 22 a unique trip to Pennsylvania is scheduled aboard the “Oil Creek & Titusville RR” for a relaxing ride through the “Valley that changed the world.” Stops include the Drake Well Museum and the Debence Antique Music World & Museum before heading home. A few seats are available.

Oct. 6-9 the group travels to the Hudson Valley for a Fall Spectacular with tours of West Point, the Culinary Institute of America with dinner, Purple Heart Hall of Honors, Rhinebeck Aerodrome, Mills Mansion, Orange County Choppers, a cruise on the Hudson River aboard the “Commander” and lots more. Seats are available.

Oct. 17 the tour will take the scenic rout to the Corning Museum and enjoy the fall colors. Plans are for lunch and the unique hands-on experience of wine glass sand-blasting and exploring the museum. A tour and tasting is scheduled at the Glenora Winery on the way home. Seats are available and nonmembers are welcome.

The Nov. 7 trip includes a fantastic lunch buffet at the Cove Restaurant and Banquet Facility and a show featuring comedy and music from the past to the present. “Singing With The Stars” is an entertainment treat presented by Viva Voca Entertainment with Sam & Nancy. Enjoy songs from mega-stars such as Englebert Humperdinck, Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Patsy Cline and more. We had the most delicious Dingus day lunch at Coves and enjoyed a great performance from Sam & Nancy in Rochester in 2010. En route home we will stop at the Made in America Store.

Dec. 2-4 the group is going to the annual “FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS” in Wheeling, WV. Over a half million twinkling lights shine brightly and there are more than 300 acres of displays. We will enjoy a laser light show, model train exhibit, gingerbread houses, holiday village and great music, a stop at Cabalas’ and more.

Dec. 8 the group will enjoy the joyous sounds of the Buffalo Choral Art Society for an afternoon performance at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Buffalo. Following the concert will be a wonderful sit-down dinner and a drive to view holiday light displays.

Tony Orlando will be performing at the Event Center at the Seneca Niagara Casino Wednesday, Dec.11. Price includes motor coach transportation, tickets to the amazing show, slot dollars and food voucher. A $15 deposit is required to hold seats.

Forestville Pioneer

Annual Forestville Pioneer Senior Club picnic will be held on Aug. 5 at noon at the Hanover Park on King Road, Forestville. Bring a dish to pass, bingo prize, table service, drink and a chair. Coffee will be available.

Lake Shore Senior Citizens

The Lake Shore Senior Citizens met at the Dunkirk Senior Center on Wednesday. President Stella Michalak led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of “God Bless America.”

A reading entitled “Dreams Do Come True” was given by Loretta Hemink. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Secretary Hemink. They were accepted as read by Marian Genovese with a second by Nancy Woloszyn.

The treasurer’s report was read by Treasurer Betty Korzeniewski. It was accepted as read by Jane Steffan with a second by Mary Dworak.

Attendance prizes were won by Jean Kubera, Dworak and Sophie Kubasik. The helper of the day was Irene Christopher. Others assisted.

The kitchen committee for Aug. 7 is Sandy Tapasto and Sophia Urbanik. A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Steffan and Dorothy Kornacki.

The group raffled 15 prizes off to members.

United Senior Citizens picnic date

The date for the United Senior Citizens’ annual picnic was incorrect in the notices mailed out. The correct date is Monday Aug. 12. For further questions and reservations, call Charlie St. George at 672-4432.
